Happy Easter everyone! Art Talk had a lot of fun at their last meeting before Easter when they made Easter Bonnets. Check out the photos to see some of the cool hats worn by their creators.
We are really pleased to announce that the Art Talk Plus group has recently been awarded a grant by the Winchester City Council Forum.
Art Talk Plus was created to help publicise the work of the artists in Art Talk through writing about what they do by creating flyers and information for their exhibitions and workshops. The group allows people to develop computer skills in a relaxed and safe environment where the members can use laptops and tablets. The members also update our website with news of our activities and other interesting stories. We've recently introduced a tablet and the members have really enjoyed creating computer art and also using the camera photograph their work. You can see some of their work at www.art-talk.uk The grant from Winchester City Council will allow us to buy another laptop and a tablet so that more people can gain experience of using computers and help to build their skills and confidence. The 15th of March, Art talk went on a trip to the science center. This was a huge success and the agreement through the whole group was that it was a really good day and it was nice to hang out all together. Although everyone had different favourites out of the activities, the agreement in the group was that the only slightly negative thing about the expedition was that since there was so many people, there was a bit of noice as well.
Jo St said that her favourite part was that she got to hang out with all the people from art talk, and the mirrors that are downstairs. James wrote "I liked being with the art Talk group and seing all the wonderful things, I enjoyed lunch at the cafe and buying things at the gift shop." Jo's favourite part of the science center was the stomach tube intestines. Dan really enjoyed the part where he put his hands and head into a space suit to try to move his hands and then see how difficult it was to move in a spacesuit. Tereasa really enjoyed the film they watched about life under the sea. David liked looking at the space station, the TARDIS from Doctor Who, and using google earth. In the science center there is this station where two people sit on opposite sides of a table, with a little ball in between them. They both put on a gadget on their head to measure the alphawaves in their brains, and then they are supposed to relax to get the ball to move to the opposite side. Dan and Chris had a go, where Dan won, and Mike and James had a go where James won. This was quite a difficult activity, since the more you focus on relaxing, the more you won and the more you don't relax the more you lose. All in all, everyone agreed that they had a really funday, both at the science centre itself and enjoying their lunch together in the cafeteria. Another successful trip with the Art Talk group. :) I WENT TO WORK AT CHARiTY SHOP . I SORTED THE DVDS OUT TO SEE OF OK TO BUY OR NOT I LIKE THE PEOELE WHO ARE FUN TO WORK WITH AND THE CUSTOMERS TOO SOME TIMES. THEY ASK ME A QUESTION ABOUT THE SHOP AND IS THE MANAGER IN. I GO ON A TUEDAY AND THURSDAY TOO. I HAVE BEEN DOING IT OF A LONG TIME NOW. AT 10 I GO IN AND FINISH AT 12. .SOME TIMES IT IS QUIET
Feedback from the people who came to our workshop
Art Talk were asked to run a workshop at the Discovery Centre. The idea was for members to help other people to do some art. Take a look below to see what happened.
We'd like to thank Patrick and his team at the Discovery Centre for their help and support putting on this event. I went to Australia with my sister for three weeks.
We flew from Gatwick to Dubai, Dubai to Sydney having stopped for 3 hours at Dubai it took about 30 hours to get to Sydney. We spent 3days in Sydney, during those days we walked along Sydney beach swam in the hotel pool had supper with some friends, we went to see some beautiful flowers in the Botanical Gardens and learned about chocolate at various stages and tasted the different chocolate, I preferred the milk chocolate. We got a Domestic flight to Adelaide which took about 2 hours, then we hired a car for two weeks and drove to our cousin’s house were we did somensightseeing we learned about Eucalyptus and about their different varieties and how it helps get rid of colds and why the Koalas go all sleepy as they eat the eucalyptus.
David says: We are doing pictures, doing things that are watery, first drawing with oil pastels. They are like crayons. Then we spray the pictures using a water sprayer to make them wet. Then I splashed paint on with a paint brush. I did two pictures; one of December and then another with trees and watery and paint and mixed the colours. Today I also used a tablet to do some drawings. I drew with different colours. I drew patterns and a shamrock. I really was concentrating. I enjoyed doing it. Teresa says: Today I made a butterfly. First of all I drew it with pastels, which is like chalk. Then I sprayed it with water. After that I put paint on it.The paint ran and the colours mixed together. I had fun doing it
